GST ledgers

KMMV's chart of accounts includes dedicated GST ledgers so output tax, input credit (ITC) and reverse charge can be tracked separately.

Output GST (collected on sales — liability)

  • Output CGST Payable
  • Output SGST Payable
  • Output IGST Payable
  • Output GST Cess Payable

Input GST / ITC (paid on purchases — asset)

  • Input CGST (ITC)
  • Input SGST (ITC)
  • Input IGST (ITC)
  • Input GST Cess (ITC)

Reverse Charge (RCM)

  • GST RCM Payable — GST payable under reverse charge.
  • GST RCM Input (ITC) — credit for RCM paid.

Control ledgers

  • Electronic Cash Ledger (GST)
  • Electronic Credit Ledger (GST)
  • GST Payable (Net) — net liability after ITC set-off
  • GST Refund Receivable
  • GST Round Off

Monthly workflow

  1. Raise sales invoices — output GST posts to the payable ledgers.
  2. Record purchases — input GST posts to the ITC ledgers.
  3. At month end, set off ITC against output and move the balance to GST Payable (Net).
  4. Pay the net GST and clear the payable.
